We are delighted to offer you the fabulous 2008 vintage of Pierre Moncuit’s Grand Cru Mesnil Brut Blanc de Blancs.

Le Mesnil-sur-Oger is one of only six 100% rated Grand Cru villages in the heart of the Côte de Blancs and the Moncuit family has been making superb champagnes here for more than 100 years. Known for elegance and minerality, Moncuit’s wines are a classic expression of this celebrated terroir.

The exceptional 2008 Brut Blanc de Blancs has been maturing in Pierre Moncuit’s cellars for over ten years. A ‘wonderfully complex’ champagne, the 2008 is perfect for dinking now.

For those of you who enjoy a crisper style, we also have a few cases of the ‘beguiling’ Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs which we are offering at the same price. ‘Both Brut and Extra Brut bottlings are terrific’ says Galloni – ‘choosing among them comes down to personal preference.’

2008 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Millesimé, Pierre Moncuit

‘Moncuit’s Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Millesimé shows a different facet of its personality in this version, with lower dosage vis-à-vis the Brut version. Here the flavors are brighter and more sculpted throughout. Hints of toastiness, almond and tangerine oil add an exotic flair that makes the Extra Brut absolutely beguiling. Lower dosage seems to exalt the minerality and bright acids of the year, while pushing the fruit a bit into the background. Both Brut and Extra Brut bottlings are terrific; choosing among them comes down to personal preference. Dosage is grams per liter. Disgorged November 2020.’ 94 points, Antonio Galloni

‘The 2008 Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is a fabulous wine from this great Champagne vintage. Given the extended time on the lees (more than ten years) the 2008 shows quite a bit of complexity that has developed in bottle. Baked apple tart, spice, apricot, orange peel, spice, hazelnut and coffee are some of the many aromas and flavors that shape this wonderfully complex Champagne from Moncuit. The 2008 is in an ideal place for drinking now, as it offers a great deal of complexity. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged November 2020’ 94 points, Antonio Galloni
