We’re delighted today to offer a small parcel of Ladoix 1er Cru le Rognet Blanc 2020 from Domaine d’Ardhuy.
A family estate on the border between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits, Domaine d’Ardhuy was established by Gabriel d’Ardhuy and Eliane André in 1947. Their seven daughters run the estate these days following biodynamic principles. The whites, which represent less than 20% of the production, are bursting with bright citrus fruits.
Vincent Bottreau, who runs the cellar, described the quality of the fruit in 2020 as ‘tip top clean’ with textbook acidity imparting, as Allen Meadow puts it, a flash of bitter lemon on the finish of this lovely, juicy Ladoix 1er Cru.
A monopole vineyard, le Rognet lies at around 340 metres on a fairly steep, south-east facing slope on the Corton hill. Marly limestone soils are just like those in neighbouring Corton-Charlemagne. The vineyard would almost certainly have been classified as a Grand Cru if it had been planted with vines at the time of official classification!
Offered en primeur at £195 per case, the stock has just been collected and will be arriving in a few weeks. There are only 120 bottles available, on a first come first served basis – we look forward to hearing from you.
