Collection 242 is a new chapter in the story of Champagne Louis Roederer.

The perfect combination of freshness and complexity, Collection comes from a selection of sustainably managed parcels in the heart of the Champagne region. Vinification is done on a parcel-by-parcel basis to maximise the number of blending components. To enhance balance and depth, a ‘Perpetual Reserve’ was created with the 2012 vintage. Enriched each year with the new vintage, there is no malolactic fermentation and the wines are stored in stainless steel vats to maintain energy and freshness. A small proportion of oak-aged reserve wine brings even greater breadth and depth to the final cuvée.

Collection 242 is based on the 2017 vintage, supplemented by 34% reserve wines from the perpetual reserve and 10% foudre-aged reserve wines. Weightless, yet concentrated and layered with lots of energy, the new Brut Collection is ‘very impressive indeed’ says William Kelley ‘a step up’ from the impressive Brut Premier – ‘notes of pear, peach, ripe citrus fruit, toasted almonds, fresh pastry and white flowers’ waft from the glass making this a very attractive champagne.
