It gives us great pleasure to offer you three eagerly anticipated wines from legendry winemaker Jean Foillard.
One of Beaujolais’s superstars, Jean Foillard has 15 hectares of old vines mainly in Morgon and Fleurie which are cultivated organically. He uses wild yeasts and whole cluster fermentations without sulphur, followed by ageing in barrels from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
Foillard produces supremely complex and age-worthy wines. Sometimes described as ‘traditional’ or ‘Burgundian’, they are full of character and stand out for their intensity, freshness and elegance.
In addition to the highly sought-after 2020 Côte du Py, we are delighted to have secured a few cases of two other gems each with their own delightful personality, the 2020 Morgon Cuvée Corcelette and the 2020 Fleurie. We cannot recommend these wines highly enough!

2020 Morgon Cuvée Corcelette, Jean Foillard

Gamay from 80 year old vines, grown on sandstone soils rather than the schist and granite which Côte du Py is on. Whole cluster fermentation. Aged for 6-9 months in old oak barrels as well as a large foudre. Slightly lighter in texture yet still just as expressive.

The Domain’s flagship cuvée comes from a superb terroir near the top of the slope. A wine with deliciously bright fruit and superb length, the amazingly velvety texture is truly unique to Foillard. Magnificently complex and balanced, this Côte du Py competes with the top Premier Crus of the Côte d’Or.

From Fleurie’s two finest terroirs, Madonne and Grille-Midi, this is a very dense and juicy wine with silky textures which can be enjoyed up to ten years after the vintage.
