Bodegas Valdaya Cosecha 2019
'One of the great wines of Spain, not just Ribera del Duero’
Tim Atkin MW
We are delighted to be releasing the exceptional 2019 vintage from Bodegas Valdaya.
A small family producer in Ribera del Duero with an enviable reputation, Valdaya was set up by Elena and Joaquin Gonzalez and is now run by their daughter Miriam. Talented winemakers Marta Ramas and Miguel Fisac joined in 2013 and have brought the wines into a different league, so much so that Valdaya was awarded First Growth status by Tim Atkin MW in 2021.
Valdaya only makes two cuvées from old bush Tempranillo vines which are vinified with indigenous yeasts in separate parcels. Maceration continues for 28 days in barrel before the free-run wine of each parcel passes into a selection of new barrels according to their potential for ageing – 90% French oak and 10% Hungarian oak from six different coopers.
These wines are oozing with age-worthy complexity and finesse. ‘Intensely floral and refined’ the Bodegas Valdaya Cosecha 2019 has ‘fine-boned tannins and layers of plum and blueberry fruit’. The Bodegas Valdaya Mirum Cosecha 2019 is ‘One of the great wines of Spain’. Showing extraordinary elegance and length, this has ‘pure plum and black cherry fruit’ along with ‘wonderful vivacity and focus.’
Bodegas Valdaya’s wines are highly sought-after and limited. Please contact us as soon as possible to take advantage of this special en primeur offer. Shipping expected late Spring 2022.

‘The straight Valdaya release is made with fruit from three different soil types in remote, high-altitude Baños de Valdearados. Intensely floral and refined as Marta Ramas and Miguel Fisac’s wines always are, this is a polished Ribera with chalky intensity, fine-boned tannins and layers of plum and blueberry fruit. Valdaya Mirum Cosecha 2019
£235 per 6 bottle case in bond
‘One of the great wines of Spain, not just Ribera del Duero, Mirum comes from a single, 1.2-hectare parcel in Baños de Valdearados. Drink 2023-32’ 97 points , Tim Atkin MW
