2020 Domaine Patrick Javillier

One of the earliest harvests in Burgundy in memory, 2020 was an exceptional year for whites which show wonderful purity and freshness along with great terroir expression. We are excited this morning to bring you three superb whites from Domaine Patrick Javillier, their Bourgogne Côte d’Or Oligocène, Meursault Les Tillets and Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru.

Domaine Patrick Javillier is one of Meursault’s best growersIndividual plots are vinified separately before extended ageing on fine lees for an extra layer of complexity. These days the domaine is run by Marion Javillier and her winemaker brother-in-law Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy. Marion took us through a very impressive selection of 2020s. Showing lovely fresh fruit and bright acidity, these wines could be approached young but have the mineral structure for long ageing. The harvest on 22nd August was the earliest in the history of the domaine.

Domaine Patrick Javillier’s wines have never been better. Tasted from barrel, they were fantastically vibrant and intense, highlighting the quality of this outstanding Chardonnay vintage. Quantities are limited so please contact us as soon as you can.

These wines are offered en primeur subject to availability. Shipment in the Autumn of 2022.

2020 Bourgogne Côte d’Or Cuvée Oligocène

£125 per 6 bottle case in bond

One of the best value Bourgognes you can find, Cuvée Oligocène comes from limestone soils which gives it a vibrant mineral quality. The 2020 has an enveloping bouquet of white peaches and honeysuckle leading to a juicy, bright palate full of refreshing citrus fruits. Rather delicious with lovely balance and length. Drink from 2022.

2020 Meursault Les Tillets

£235 per 6 bottle case in bond

Tillets is a reference to the trees at the top of the hillside close to the woods. Here rocky soils force roots deep into the bedrock creating a very refreshing wine with a lifted bouquet of bright lemon fruits. Showing lovely purity and tension and a pithy mineral freshness, it offers a fresher style than most Meursault and ages brilliantly. Drink from 2025.

2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

£665 per 6 bottle case in bond

An extremely complex and elegant wine, the 2020 has an expansive bouquet of stone fruits and flower blossom with lively citrus and white peach notes on the palate underscored by a fine mineral freshness. A wine with an almost weightless floral quality about it, there is clearly great potential here. Drink from 2027.
