Massoc Frères was founded by François and Jean-Paul Massoc in 2015. Their aim was to revive the traditional grape varieties of Chile’s remote and beautiful Itata Valley. Some 500 kilometres south of Santiago, the Itata Valley was one of the first regions in the Chile to be planted with vines in the 1550s.
The Massoc brothers work with growers who have tended their vines for generations and share their deep respect for nature. An exceptional terroir, ancient vines up to 150 years old and traditional viticulture, including working the soils by horse, produce deliciously complex wines. Cool breezes from the Pacific contribute to their elegance.
We are pleased to offer you a selection of three wines: Fresh and perfumed with crisp acidity, the dry Moscatel is the perfect white for the summer while the L’Assemblage, a blend of País and Cinsault, combines juicy red fruit with fine tannins. The premium Grand País stands out for its remarkable finesse. François Massoc describes this as the Pinot Noir of Chile,‘ without a doubt it reminds me of Burgundy’. Both reds are vinified with whole berries and matured in French oak barrels to add complexity.

100% Moscatel, this delicious white spends 10 months on the lees. Fresh and aromatic, the perfume is balanced by crisp acidity and a lovely dry texture with notes of honey, roses and lemon blossom. Elegant and refreshing with a citrus finish, the Moscatel is the perfect aperitif or summer wine.

A blend of 79% País and 21% Cinsault, this spent 12 months in a mixture of stainless-steel vats and French oak barrels. Spiced dried cherry and savoury plum aromas lead to a well-defined palate with a core of dark blackcurrant fruit. Hints of white pepper and savoury spice add complexity. A wonderful accompaniment to dried meats or cheeses.
Grand Pais 2019

A cut above other examples of this grape, this is a very serious red made the best fruit. 100% País, it spends 18 months in French oak barrels. A bouquet of wild strawberries and crunchy reds berries mingles with savoury orange peel and spice notes. Almost Burgundian in style, sweet red berry fruits on the palate are balanced by fine, mineral tannins with hints of sous-bois and wild herbs on the finish. The 2019 shows lovely complexity and depth – very good indeed.
