The story of Famille Paquet begins in 1980 when Jocelyne and Michel Paquet created Domaine des Valanges. The wines were soon being exported widely, along with their highly regarded SaintVéran. It was in 2014 that their three sons, having been involved in their parents’ efforts for some time, began to forge their own path, acquiring a 2-hectare vineyard in Solutré-Pouilly and then 10 hectares in the Mâcon appellation. This strengthened and increased their range and proved an opportunity to express the richness and diversity of the region’s terroirs from north to south. In 2016, the three sons took over the 12-hectare family property, now known as Famille Paquet. Today, Camille manages the vineyards and winemaking, while Mathieu and Jean-Baptiste are responsible for marketing and sales. Very much a family affair, this generation is working diligently to continue in their parents’ footsteps. Their approach is one of minimal intervention with a deep respect for the soil and its biodiversity and the people who work the vines. The transition to organic growing is all part of this ethos, and from the 2022 vintage, wines will be organic.
