The Bianco is 100% Chardonnay, and the Rosato and Rosso are both 100% Merlot. The Prosecco Spumante Brut is pretty, light, elegant, and ephemeral. Its purity is lasting, unlike the glass in your hand that just seems to keep emptying itself. The Prosecco Spumante Senza Solfiti is proof that Settimo Pizzolato has mastered bottling wine with no added sulphites. This is fresh but has all the lovely roundness and mouthfeel that the lack of interference (i.e. filtration) offers. It represents a step up in texture from normal Prosecco, and like all his wines, is extremely pure and pretty. The Pinot Grigio Piave DOC is fresh, light, lemony and zingy. Shouldn't all Pinot Grigio taste like this? Yes, we`re pretty sure it should! The Merlot Senza Solfiti is what Merlot is really all about. seductive, easy, soft and groaning with berry fruit and light spice. This is such an easy drinking wine but with plenty of depth. Malanotte del Piave DOCG "Il Barbarossa" is a relative newcomer to the highly prized DOCG classifications. To qualify, wines must consist 100% of the deep coloured, powerful variety Raboso, and include 15-30% dried grapes, in the traditional ripasso style. The wine then has to age 36 months in barrel and bottle before release. Settimo Pizzolato makes his super-concentrated version with 30% passito grapes, and the result is an extraordinary red with rich, powerful spice and tobacco flavours tempered with a dried cranberry bite. It is certainly one of our favourite "vino di meditazione", especially in its impressive magnum form. The Passito Bianco "Alba Chiara" is made from Manzoni grapes and is a heavenly, mouth-tingling sweet wine.
