Domaine des Chézelles

Domaine des Chézelles

  • France Loire
Since the 1850s, the "Des Chézelles" vineyards have been handed down from father to son, benefiting from generations of wine growing expertise as well as from modern research and techniques in order to produce wines of fine quality. The vineyards are located on the banks of the river Cher and the soil is chalky clay mixed with a little flint, sand and gravel. Wherever possible they try to minimize the use of chemicals in the vineyard. This multi-award winning estate continues to craft vibrant, zesty and crisp Touraine Sauvignon Blanc to rival many a Sancerre. Slow fermentation at low temperatures in stainless steel vats results in fresh and aromatic wines with excellent structure and length with subtle minerality. The Touraine Rosé, made from Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Pineau d'Aunis, has an inviting nose of wild strawberries and summer meadows, with a clean mouth-watering palate of ripe red berries. From 2017, after belonging to the Marcadet family for five generations, Domaine des Chézelles is now in the hands of Philippe Derouet, his wife Catherine and their daughter Aurélie, who are committed to maintaining the same quality level the winery is known for.
