ēkhô is the brainchild of winemaker Lefteris Anagnostou, who has made his name in Santorini putting the very highly regarded Artemis Karamolegos winery on the map. He is a consultant winemaker for many wineries in Santorini, Crete, and on the mainland. This is Lefteris’s first own project and 2021 is the first vintage. He sources grapes for this project from nearby vineyards with contracted growers using select single plots. The project is based on the intention of re-approaching wine territories of historical significance and restate their expression through the vinification of selected plots. These areas have strong bonds with vine growing and wine production, through the centuries and in most cases, produced wines that were renowned in ancient times. The historical connection is the link element, whereas the old, ungrafted vines, of both known and unknown
