Founded in 1893, Delaunay is back in the ownership of fifth generation Laurent Delaunay. The original négociant business, established by his great-great-grandfather Edouard, was a prestigious name in Burgundy. Distributors of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, they were exclusive for La Romanée until the 1940s. Laurent repurchased the business from Jean Claude Boisset in 2018 including the cellars next to their family home, Château de Charmont, in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. With access to some of the best vineyards in the Côte d’Or, Laurent and his wife Catherine produce a stunning selection of wines. A higher yield in 2023 allowed for a very strict selection of the fruit and arguably, even greater balance and finesse in the wines. The reds are elegant and multi-layered and the whites show impressive freshness and persistence.
