Lafon is one of Burgundy’s most innovative winemakers, with a reputation to match. From 2008 he decided to make a few wines under his own label, separate from the family property Domaine des Comtes Lafon. The wines are now vinified, matured and bottled at Château de Bligny where Dominique and colleagues operate a custom crush facility for artisan growers. Though officially a négociant, almost all the wines are domaine bottlings from vineyards that he owns or has long-term contracts with. Dominique emphasised the importance of picking quickly in 2023 to avoid sugar accumulating too rapidly and to maintain freshness. He de-stemmed all the Pinot Noir and used a very light extraction on the reds. Both reds and whites display wonderful purity and tension, another brilliant vintage for Dominique and his team.
