The Carillons have been making wine in Puligny-Montrachet since the 16th century, beginning with Jehan Carillon in 1520. Jacques Carillon joined his father in 1980. In 2010, Jacques and his wife Sylvia founded Domaine Jacques Carillon with 5.25 hectares of vines, primarily in the village of Puligny-Montrachet. Avoiding herbicides and pesticides, they tend everything by hand. In the cellar, a restrained use of oak with only 15-20% new barrels keeps the wines fresh and pure. For an experienced hand like Jacques, 2023 was a straightforward
vintage to manage, ‘stress free’ in his words. It rained when it needed so the vines were never thirsty. Picking started 2nd September. As ever, he has produced very balanced, elegant and refreshing wines.
