Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur was created when Vincent Bitouzet from Volnay married Ann Prieur from Meursault. François Bitouzet took over in 2012 moving to an impressive new cuverie outside Meursault in 2019. The holdings, 60% of which are Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, include a selection of the finest Premier Crus in Volnay and Meursault. The domaine stopped using herbicides in 1995 and, since the 2023 vintage, is certified organic. François intervenes as little as possible in the cellar using native yeasts and a traditional press. Filtering and bottling are by gravity-flow. The 2023 harvest took place from 11th to 17th September, switching between reds and whites as needed to ensure optimal ripeness. The grapes were de-stemmed and the wines were aged in 20% new oak, allowing the pure fruit and mineral complexity to shine. The whites are precise and energetic and the reds shows wonderful freshness.
