About the Producer
Region: Puligny-Montrachet
Olivier Leflaive needs little introduction for those who have followed Burgundy for some time. Olivier comanaged Domaine Leflaive with his uncle Vincent through the 1980s and then with his cousin Anne-Claude in the early 1990s. It was at this time that he established Olivier Leflaive Frères. At the start he owned no vineyards, instead purchasing grapes from selected growers whilst vinifying, maturing and bottling on site. Quality was paramount. Olivier Leflaive has since acquired an enviable 15 hectares of vines across Puligny, Chassagne and Meursault. While the Grand Cru wines of Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet are extremely rare, the village and Premier Crus from Saint Aubin, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet are wonderful. The 2020 vintage is clearly a brilliant vintage for Olivier Leflaive with winemaker Franck Grux emphasising the freshness, energy and intensity of the wines. We are delighted to be offering these wines en primeur for the first time.

2020 Bourgogne Blanc Sétilles

A blend of sixty selected plots mainly in Puligny and Meursault, Les Sétilles exhibits spicy green apple and yellow fruit aromas followed by a lively palate

2020 Meursault Clos de la Velle

Clos de la Velle is in the upper part of Sous la Velle near the 13th century Château de la Velle. Calcareous clay soils lie over a rocky base enabling good drainage. Super attractive, this has a bright bouquet of refreshing green fruits with a hint of

2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Referts

Les Referts has a nuanced bouquet of freshly cut green apples with a smoky flinty note. A wellbalanced palate displays bright stone fruits and squeezed lime notes balanced by a lively minerality. This shows real purpose and direction. Drink over the next 10 years. Drink from 2025.
2020 Meursault 1er Cru Sous le Dos d’Ane

Next to Meursault Perrières Dessus in Blagny, a stony terroir gives a flinty and mineral character to the wine. Very attractive on the nose with scents of flower blossom, well-judged acidity balances exotic stone fruits on the palate. Shows excellent persistence, energy and length. Drink from 2025.
2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières

A fabulous Bâtard-Montrachet showing crystal clear fruit with a hint of well-integrated spicy oak. The vibrant palate is full of tension leading to an incredibly long finish with a bitter lemon note. It shows wonderful depth and energy and will need at least seven more years. Drink from 2028.
2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru

The Chevalier-Montrachet offers an intense nose of bright citrus and pithy stone fruits. The concentrated and layered palate has superb energy with a fresh mineral note leading through to a long finish. It will continue to gain in complexity over the next 20 years. Drink from 2029.
2020 Montrachet Grand Cru

Broader shouldered than the Chevalier, it reveals creamy white peach and subtle spice scents on the nose. The palate has lovely depth of rich stone fruit with a mouthwatering mineral freshness providing backbone and length. Smooth and intense on the palate, this beautifully balanced Montrachet will reward patient cellaring. Drink from 2030.
2020 Pernand-Vergelesses Rouge

From a limestone terroir, this has a vibrant bouquet of wild strawberries and bright hedgerow fruits leading to a silky textured palate with refreshing cherry and dark plum flavours. A very appealing wine which will be lovely from release. Drink from 2023.

Showing dark briary fruits on the nose, succulent red berry flavours are balanced by textured tannins and fresh minerality while an elegant herbal note adds complexity. This will be delicious over the next few years. Drink from 2023.
