Region: Vosne-Romanée
Robert Sirugue is a family-run estate based in Vosne-Romanée. In 2000, Robert Sirugue passed the property on to his daughter and son, Marie-France and Jean-Louis, who represent the 4th generation of wine growers. The vineyards now occupy almost 12 hectares of sustainably grown vines including their jewel of Grands Echézeaux and parcels in Les Petits Monts and Les Mombies in Chambolle-Musigny. Most of the bottles disappear into top restaurants around the world which is why the wines are not better known despite their undisputed quality. We tasted the 2020s with Marie-France which were intense and beautifully balanced. Asked to compare the last two vintages, Marie-France thought that 2020 had a slight edge on the 2019s as the wines were more ‘nuanced’.

From three parcels which were tasted separately: Aux Réas to the south, Les Chalandins to the north and Les Barreaux on the mid-slope. A wine with plenty of character and depth, the blend was richly textured with succulent blackcurrant and damson fruits and beautiful freshness. Drink from 2025.
2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Mombies

A very promising wine, Les Mombies shows crushed red berry and cranberry scents on the nose with lively forest fruit flavours balanced by well-integrated, smooth tannins. Darker plum fruits emerge in the glass. Fresh and lively, this has the potential to age well. Drink from 2025.
2020 Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes

A blend of four parcels of 70-year-old vines in Flagey-Echezeaux, this very attractive wine has lovely depth and length. Concentrated blackcurrant and refreshing raspberry fruits are supported by supple tannins leading to a long finish. Shows lovely definition and great potential. Drink from 2026.
2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petit Monts

An excellent parcel just above Richebourg, the 2020 Les Petit Monts has a dark bouquet of red cherries and blackcurrants with a hint of roasted coffee and
spice. Deliciously textured and refreshing, the palate is full of smooth dark berry fruit balanced by velvety tannins. Drink from 2026.
2020 Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru

A tiny parcel, and matured entirely in new oak, this has an expansive bouquet of dark strawberry and cassis fruit leading to a well-structured and persistent palate combining intensity and freshness with wonderful length. A wine with immense
