About the Producer
Region: Saint-Aubin
Domaine Hubert et Olivier Lamy is one of the most innovative producers in Burgundy. Based in Saint-Aubin, Olivier joined his father in 1995. While the backbone of the domaine are the stunning wines from Saint-Aubin, the jewel in the crown is their tiny holding in Criots-Bâtard Montrachet. Although not certified, Olivier practices organic viticulture and yields are low. Among his exciting innovations is the planting of high density (haute densité) vineyards to force the vines deep into the bedrock. These wines show remarkable intensity and energy. Olivier Lamy moderated the use of wood in 2020 avoiding new oak altogether for his whites in favour of two year-old barrels to keep as much freshness as possible. ‘A great year’ for whites in particular, he has produced a stunning set of wines which show wonderful precision, superb tension and great terroir expression. The 2019s were brilliant but these 2020s are arguably even better. Olivier has decided to release later this year, so whilst we have included some of our notes here, the wines will be offered next summer.

2020 Saint-Aubin La Princée

Very bright and energetic, La Princée has an expressive bouquet of green pears and apples. Pithy grapefruit flavours and a bitter fresh note on the finish are underscored by a mouthwatering mineral freshness. Drink from 2022.
2019 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Frionnes

From a parcel located near the village, Les Frionnes has an added layer of intensity. Green apple and lime aromas, and a hint of oyster shell, lead to a crisp
palate with penetrating fresh citrus fruit. This shows great potential. Drink from 2023.
2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Le Concis du Champs

Quite expressive on the nose, Le Concis du Champs offers a bouquet of lemons and white peaches with a hint of honeysuckle. Elegant stone fruits on the palate are enlivened by a chalky, mineral freshness. Excellent. Drink from 2025.
2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots

On the Chassagne side of Puligny, this is very focused with an intense citrus bouquet and a note of freshly squeezed limes. Grapefruit and bitter lemon flavours lead to a long, flowing finish. Shows impressive concentration and vigour. Drink from 2024.
2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos de la Chatenière

From a steep, rocky slope with old vines, La Chatenière reveals pithy citrus fruits with mouthwatering grapefruit flavours. Impressively intense and long, it will be approachable in a year or so but has plenty of ageing potential. Drink from 2024.
2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien

Located towards Puligny, Les Murgers des Dents de Chien is an intensely refreshing white displaying an appealing bouquet of crisp white orchard fruit and
a hint of smoke. Sweet lemons on the palate and a chalky mineral character lead to a mouthwatering finish. Concentrated and persistent, it will continue to gain in complexity over the next 20 years. Drink from 2027.
2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru, Derrière Chez Edouard Haute Densité

High density planting results in fewer bunches per vine and tiny berries. If that was not enough, the slope is so steep that the soils are worked by hand with the help of a winch. A beautifully layered nose with restrained green apple and mineral scents lead to an incredibly intense and energetic palate with a taut mineral finish. This will reward serious ageing. Drink from 2027.
2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge La Goujonne

Produced from 65-year-old vines, this has a fresh bouquet of brambly forest fruits with hints of alpine herbs. Showing lovely persistence, delicate blackcurrant flavours are lifted by refreshing acidity making for a very attractive wine which will be prefect in the medium term. Drink from 2025.
