Region: Savigny-lès-Beaune
Antonin Guyon started buying vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin and Meursault in the 1960s. A decade later, his son Dominique added 350 plots in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits. Today, Dominique and his daughter Hombeline, the fifth generation of the family, look after a domaine covering more than fifteen different appellations. As William Kelly writes, ‘it is a mystery how this 48-hectare estate….blessed with grand appellations continues to fly somewhat under the radar’. Certified organic since 2018, vinification occurs in open-top oak vats and new oak is kept to a minimum to allow the terroir to shine through. The results, according to Robert Parker speak for themselves. Complex, charming and elegant, these classic wines merit serious attention.

2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

Displaying aromas of white flowers, citrus zest and fresh bread with a delicate hint of spice, layered stone fruit and white peach flavours are balanced by a refreshing oyster shell note leading to a long finish. This is a beautifully balanced and complex wine which shows great promise. Cellar for at least five years. Drink from 2027.

The Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses from Dominique Guyon reveals a fruit driven bouquet of wild berries and plums with a delicate violet note. A medium-bodied and nicely concentrated palate, with exuberant red fruits and fine mineral tannins, shows real promise. Drink from 2024.
2020 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Vercots

Exhibiting aromas of sweet red berries and enveloping floral scents, the multi-layered palate has a core of dark ripe fruit framed by silky tannins. Finely balanced and intense with a lingering finish, this will be delicious in a few years with the capacity to age for much longer. Drink from 2025.
2020 Chambolle-Musigny Clos du Village – Monopole

A monopoly of the Domaine, this refined and well balanced Chambolle has a perfumed bouquet of raspberries and rose petals leading to a silky palate with sweet cassis and violet notes. Seamless tannins lead to long finish. A lovely wine which showed well from barrel. Drink from 2025.
2020 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru

A superb Corton-Bressandes revealing aromas of cherries and rose petals with hints of sweet spice and sous-bois. Layered and velvety, with beautifully refined tannins, this is an extremely elegant Grand Cru with a long persistent finish which suggests great ageing potential. Drink from 2027.
