- France Loire
A very promising winemaker and one of the stars of our portfolio, Jérémie Mourat is based in Mareuil-sur-Lay in the heart of Fiefs Vendéens between Laroche sur Yon and La Rochelle. In addition to his cru-focused 'Les Bêtes Curieuses' project with Jérémie Huchet, he is constantly pushing boundaries and tinkering with new approaches for his own wines. His top terroir is an organic single vineyard called 'Le Moulin Blanc', from which all grapes are hand-harvested and the wines fermented are aged in concrete eggs. Both the white and red are 100% Pinot Noir. The O.V.N.I. label - producing a lovely, textured Chenin Blanc - was created to circumnavigate appellation rules in a tongue-in-cheek manner, taking 'O.V.N.I.', the French acronym for 'U.F.O.', and repurposing it to break down as 'Objet Viticole Non Identifié'.
