Alicanto are nocturnal, luminescent birds that live in the caves and mines of Chile. The Alicanto range is produced exclusively for Bancroft Wines by Viña Maola in Chile. It is sourced from vineyard sites within the Central Valley at an average altitude of 600m. The Sauvignon Blanc is pale lemon with a hint of green in the glass. It has lifted fruit aromas of passion fruit and grapefruit with citrus undertones. On the palate it is crisp and dry with a refreshing acidity and citrus notes on the finish. The Merlot boasts dark violet hues and has a complex nose of ripe black cherry and spiced fruitcake, with earthy nuances. The palate is soft and smooth with ripe sweet fruit flavours of plums and currants. It is easy-going with a generous finish.
