About the Wines

Chenin Blanc Marras 2019
Swartland, South Africa

The grapes for Los Tros Chenin Blanc are handpicked and treated to both tank and barrel fermentation, followed by 6 months ageing on the lees, making a very drinkable pear and stone-fruited wine, complemented by crisp freshness and a round mouthfeel with a refreshing finish. Perfect as an aperitif, this Chenin also pairs well with seafood.

Shiraz Cinsault Marras 2018
Swartland, South Africa

This Shiraz Cinsault is an exciting blend and, on account of minimal extraction, the resultant wine is bright, fruit forward showing plums, rose petal and smoky spice. The same flavours carry through to the palate, with firm but smooth tannins, toasty oak flavours and a juicy finish. It pairs well with a variety of dishes, includes grilled meats and hard cheeses.

Sauvignon Blanc, Cederberg Private Cellar 2019
Cederberg, South Africa

Cederberg Private Cellar’s Sauvignon Blanc shows brilliant citrus, tropical aromas of gooseberry, guava and lemon zest, and hints of green fig and asparagus. Crisp and fresh, there is a delicate creaminess on the palate making it a versatile match for both shellfish and chicken pie.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Cederberg Private Cellar 2017
Cederberg, South Africa

His Cederberg Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense blackcurrant core, backed up by undertones of cedarwood, tobacco leaf and subtle smokiness. There is a gorgeous, velvet quality to the palate.

Riesling, Hartenberg Esate 2017
Stellenbosch, South Africa

The Hartenberg Riesling is one of the very few examples of a Riesling from South Africa. Chalky and flinty on the nose, with surprising weight and concentration and a beautiful lingering finish. There is just a touch of sweetness on the palate but it is the thrilling freshness that impresses. It works well with spice or seafood but you can easily enjoy it on its own.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Hartenberg Estate 2016
Stellenbosch, South Africa

The Hartneberg Cabernet Shiraz is a near 50-50 blend which has spent a year ageing in French oak. It packs tons of fresh, dark berries, wild herbs and spices, ending in a satisfying, savoury finish; a particularly good match for pizza according to Carl himself!
