Arômes Sauvages Alicante-Bouschet, Château Viranel 2019
The amazing Aromes Sauvages is a highly individual wine made from the ancient Alicante Bouschet variety and 80-year-old vines grown on pebbly soils. The nose is brimming with pepper, black fruit, ripe crushed thyme and fennel. The palate is concentrated and smooth and not the slightest bit heavy. Dark chocolate, spices and wild herb characters combine to create a truly unique wine. While Nicolas and Arnaud recommend just enjoying this wine, there’s loads of depth and elegance here so it’s worth savouring. You can drink it now or it can easily be cellared for a few years.
